ADDaptable

Time is moving, that is inevitable. With time comes change. A change in seasons, a changing of the guard, a change in our physical appearances - both positively and negatively, controllable and uncontrollable. Many of us find ourselves asking the question, what do we do about this change? Obviously, if its controllable, we can take the necessary steps to create what we want from it. But what if the change is uncontrollable? Like previously suggested, life constantly gives you lemons that you can either be bitter about, fuss, and complain, or you can create opportunities that are beneficial.

Inevitable uncontrollable change, like the seasons, happen. It is important to adjust and endure the idea of adaptability. Adapt, which in Latin is accommodare, which is the root word for accommodate, which in the dictionary means to come to terms with. In essence, when we come to terms with the fact that things change or have the possibility of change, we start to either lower our expectations of the things around us playing into our favor, and/or we raise the expectations of ourselves to take advantage of the predicament we are in.

In a basketball sense, we as players constantly go through changes. In fact, the only time change does not happen, is when the clock reads 00:00. And at that point, we begin to reflect on the takeaways of the game, the training session, the practice, or whatever aspect an individual is competing in. Then, again we begin to make efforts to make changes. The choice that a player takes in his/her ability to be adaptable will speak volumes in his/her success in competition.
